Beyfortus (nirsevimab) is a long-acting monoclonal antibody that provides passive immunity against Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) — one single intramuscular dose protects infants through their first full RSV season (~5 months). Dosing by weight: 50mg for infants under 5kg, 100mg for 5kg and above. High-risk children entering a second RSV season (up to 24 months) may need 200mg (two 100mg doses). Clinical trials showed ~70-75% reduction in RSV-related illness, with mild side effects (injection-site reaction, mild fever, irritability).
